My name is Todd Plunkett.  I have over 14 years experience in working with MS Excel. 

Work History & Experience

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1991 with a degree in Accounting.

My career started with the public accounting firm Deloitte & Touche. Shortly after starting I sat for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and passed.

My experience as a CPA and accountant allowed me to develop many financial related applications and related problem solving spreadsheets.  These ranged from analytical spreadsheets used for audit analysis to the financial statement reporting and consolidation models and reports.  Financial professionals are some of the best spreadsheet users I have encountered.

It was also during this time (when I had a little more time on my hands) that I developed fantasy football and basketball applications to automate the scoring of our leagues.  Surprisingly, the scoring complexity and flexibility required in these applications pushed me to really enhance my Excel knowledge.

I moved to private industry and became a financial accountant and manager with the Reynolds and Reynolds company in Dayton, Ohio.  Unfortunately, at that time,  their systems were not the most flexible.  As a result I was constantly involved in the automation of reporting and ad-hoc analysis in order to "get the job done" in the time constraints of a monthly closing process.  I held several positions in the company including working on the budget in the Financial Planning and Analysis group.

During all these years of accounting work I really had an interest in technology and a co-worker suggested I combine my interest in technology with my business process knowledge acquired through my years in accounting and financial planning.  So I accepted a position as a Business Systems Analyst in our Information Technology department.

So presently, I am a Business System Analyst with a nearly $1 billion private company.  In this role my primary responsibilities include

• Functional Requirements creation and documentation
• Integration and Customer Acceptance System Test Script preparation and execution
• Systems Implementation
• Ongoing System Support

I really enjoy this work as I am involved in systems definition and development in areas which enhance our business and drive revenue growth while at the same time working in the technology field.

Family

I live in Dayton, Ohio with my wife and three children.  My children are 10, 8 and 5 so we spend a lot of time "keeping up" with the kids!  I was a soccer player over the years and now my children are starting to play.  This past fall I somehow ended up coaching one of two local select girls soccer teams - what a great experience.
